CBSE CLASSES 6–8 • WEEKLY STUDY PLAN

A good middle-school study plan should help you revise regularly without turning every evening into a long study session. This CBSE weekly study plan for Classes 6, 7 and 8 gives a flexible Monday-to-Sunday structure for Maths, Science, Social Science, English and other school subjects. Use it as a template and adjust the subjects according to your school timetable, homework, tests and areas that need more practice.

THE BASIC IDEA
Study a Little, Review Often, Practise Every Week
Instead of trying to revise every subject every day, rotate subjects across the week. Keep school-day sessions focused, use Saturday for mixed practice, and use Sunday for revision, unfinished work and planning the next week.

✓
USE THIS AS A TEMPLATE
You do not need to follow the exact subject order. If a school test is approaching, temporarily give that subject more time. If homework is already heavy on a particular day, shorten the extra study session instead of trying to complete everything mechanically.

FOCUSED STUDY BLOCK
A Simple 40-Minute Study Session
A repeatable structure for one subject or chapter.
5 min
Recall: without opening the book, write or say what you remember from the previous lesson.
15 min
Learn: read the textbook section, worked example, diagram, source or explanation carefully.
15 min
Practise: solve questions without looking at answers. Choose a format that suits the subject.
5 min
Review: mark mistakes, note one difficult point and decide what needs another attempt later.

SUBJECT STRATEGY
What to Do During Each Subject Session
Different subjects need different kinds of practice.
✓
Maths: understand the example, solve problems independently, show steps clearly and redo questions that were incorrect.
✓
Science: connect the concept with observations, diagrams, activities and real-life examples before attempting practice questions.
✓
Social Science: organise the chapter using keywords, maps, timelines, causes, effects, institutions and evidence.
✓
English: combine reading comprehension with vocabulary, grammar, speaking and short writing practice.
✓
Second Language: include reading, grammar, vocabulary and writing according to the school syllabus.
✓
Weak Topic: do not simply reread it. Attempt a question, identify exactly where you get stuck, then review that specific idea.
🧠
SATURDAY PRACTICE
Rotate Question Types Every Week
Use different question formats to check recall, application and reasoning.
6
CLASS 6
How Class 6 Students Can Use the Plan
Keep the routine simple while adjusting to middle-school subjects and new textbooks.
✓
Give extra attention to building regular Maths and Science habits rather than waiting for a test.
✓
Read English and Social Science chapters in smaller sections and explain them in your own words.
✓
Use short weekly practice rather than trying to complete large question sets in one sitting.
7
CLASS 7
How Class 7 Students Can Use the Plan
Increase independent practice while keeping weekly revision consistent.
✓
Use the second Maths session each week to revisit errors from the first session.
✓
For Science and Social Science, move from reading to case-based and reasoning questions after the concept is clear.
✓
Use Friday’s weak-topic block to prevent small gaps from becoming larger before exams.
8
CLASS 8
How Class 8 Students Can Use the Plan
Add more mixed practice and explanation as concepts become more demanding.
✓
Keep two regular Maths sessions instead of concentrating all problem-solving on the weekend.
✓
Use Science sessions for diagrams, reasoning, application and current textbook questions rather than only definitions.
✓
On Saturday, combine at least two subjects in one short mixed-practice session to improve switching between question types.
📝
BEFORE A SCHOOL TEST
How to Adjust the Weekly Plan During Test Week
Keep the same structure but temporarily change the priority.
1
List the test syllabus: divide it into chapters or topics instead of writing only the subject name.
2
Mark three levels: confident, needs revision and needs practice.
3
Replace one normal session: use that slot for the upcoming test subject without abandoning every other subject for the whole week.
4
Practise before rereading again: questions show which concepts actually need another review.
5
Use the final review for mistakes: revise incorrect questions, key formulas, terms, maps, diagrams or writing formats rather than beginning a completely new topic at the last moment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CBSE Weekly Study Plan FAQs
Common questions about using the timetable for Classes 6–8.
Is this weekly study plan the same for Classes 6, 7 and 8?

The basic weekly pattern can be used for all three classes, but the difficulty and amount of practice should match the student’s class, schoolwork and current chapters.

Do I have to study every subject every day?

No. This plan rotates subjects through the week. The aim is regular contact with important subjects without trying to revise everything every evening.

What if I have a lot of school homework?

School homework can become part of the day’s study session. If homework already provides enough practice in a subject, use the remaining time for another priority rather than duplicating the same work.

What should I do if I miss one day?

Continue with the next day instead of trying to double every session. Move only the most important unfinished task to Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Which subjects should get the most practice?

Give more practice to subjects that require regular problem-solving or to topics where you are currently making mistakes. The priority can change from week to week.

How can XAM CONTENT be used with this study plan?

Open your class and subject hub for the chapter you are studying, then use available MCQs, case study questions, assertion–reason questions, NCERT resources or other practice material during the practice portion of the weekly plan.
