Study Route

How to Use Class 6 Maths Study Material Effectively

A simple chapter routine for concept learning, practice and correction.
Step 1
Learn from the textbook: Read the relevant Ganita Prakash section, work through the examples and attempt the in-text activities before moving to extra practice.
Step 2
Use MCQs for concept checks: Attempt chapterwise MCQs without looking at the answers first. Review the explanation whenever your reasoning differs from the solution.
Step 3
Move to case-based practice: Use the case study questions to practise applying a concept inside a situation, passage, table, diagram or multi-step problem.
Step 4
Test reasoning with Assertion–Reason: Decide whether each statement is true, then judge whether the reason actually explains the assertion. Focus on the logical relationship, not only the truth of each statement.
Step 5
Correct mistakes: Keep a short error list. Write what went wrong — concept, calculation, reading or method — and then solve one similar question again.
Step 6
Revise cumulatively: After finishing a new chapter, include a few questions from older chapters so earlier ideas stay active.
💡
Study Tip
Do not measure progress only by the number of questions solved

A smaller set of questions reviewed carefully can be more useful than a large set completed mechanically. When a question is wrong, identify why it was wrong and retry the idea later.

5 Quick Class 6 Maths Questions

A short mixed check before you choose which chapter to revise first.
5
Questions
✍️
Mixed Starter Check
Try mentally where possible, then reveal the answer.
1

What is the next term in the pattern 1, 3, 6, 10, …?

Easy
A12
B15
C16
D20
Correct Answer: B

The differences are +2, +3 and +4. The next difference is +5, so 10 + 5 = 15.

2

An angle measures 65°. Which description is correct?

Easy
AAcute angle
BRight angle
CObtuse angle
DStraight angle
Correct Answer: A

An acute angle is greater than 0° and less than 90°. Therefore 65° is acute.

3

Which of the following is the smallest prime number?

Easy
A1
B2
C3
D5
Correct Answer: B

A prime number has exactly two positive factors: 1 and itself. The number 2 is the smallest prime.

4

A rectangle is 7 cm long and 4 cm wide. What is its perimeter?

Medium
A11 cm
B22 cm
C28 cm
D44 cm
Correct Answer: B

Perimeter = 2 × (length + width) = 2 × (7 + 4) = 22 cm.

5

Which number is greater: −4 or −1?

Medium
A−4
B−1
CThey are equal
DCannot be compared
Correct Answer: B

On a number line, −1 lies to the right of −4, so −1 is greater.

Use the Result

If one question felt difficult, start with the matching chapter rather than treating the score as a grade: Q1 → Patterns in Mathematics, Q2 → Lines and Angles, Q3 → Prime Time, Q4 → Perimeter and Area, and Q5 → The Other Side of Zero.

This hub follows Ganita Prakash, the NCERT Mathematics textbook for Class VI. The chapter links on this page are organised around its 10-chapter structure.

What Class 6 Maths resources are currently available on XAM CONTENT?

You can currently use chapterwise MCQ questions, case study questions and assertion–reason questions for all 10 Ganita Prakash chapters directly from this hub.

Are the practice questions official NCERT questions?

No. Unless a resource is explicitly identified as an official question or textbook exercise, XAM CONTENT practice questions should be treated as independently prepared study and revision material based on the concepts being studied.

What is the best way to revise Class 6 Maths?

Start with the textbook concept, solve the examples and activities, then use chapterwise practice to check understanding. Review wrong answers and return to older chapters regularly instead of doing all revision only before an assessment.
