IMPORTANT FOR 2026–27
Do not use the old Class 9 chapter numbering as the current textbook sequence
CBSE has redesigned Class IX Mathematics for 2026–27 in alignment with NCF-SE 2023. The current NCERT textbook is Ganita Manjari, organised in two parts and 14 chapters. Topics from the previous textbook may still be useful, but they should be used by concept, not by the old chapter number.

WHY OLD RESOURCES STILL APPEAR BELOW
XAM CONTENT already has a substantial Class 9 Maths practice library built around the previous NCERT chapter sequence. Several mathematical ideas remain relevant in the new curriculum, but the mapping is not always one-to-one. Use the links below as related concept practice, not as the current Ganita Manjari chapter list.

QUICK DIAGNOSTIC
Check a Few Core Class 9 Maths Skills
Try these original questions without notes. Open the answer only after attempting each one.
1. In which quadrant does the point (4, −3) lie?

Answer: Quadrant IV, because the x-coordinate is positive and the y-coordinate is negative.

2. For y = 3x − 5, what is the slope of the line?

Answer: 3. In the form y = ax + b, the coefficient a gives the slope.

3. Is √7 rational or irrational?

Answer: Irrational. Since 7 is not a perfect square, √7 cannot be expressed as a ratio of two integers.

4. Expand (a + b)².

Answer: a² + 2ab + b².

5. A fair coin is tossed once. What is the probability of getting a head?

Answer: 1/2. There are two equally likely outcomes and one favourable outcome.

6. What is the next term of the sequence 5, 8, 11, 14, …?

Answer: 17. The sequence increases by 3 each time.

STUDY ROUTE
How to Study Class 9 Maths with the New Textbook
The revised curriculum places more emphasis on reasoning, modelling and application, so your practice routine should reflect that.
Step 1
Read the current Ganita Manjari section: understand the situation, diagrams, examples and reasoning before memorising a formula.
Step 2
Rework examples independently: cover the solution and reproduce the reasoning on paper.
Step 3
Solve textbook exercises: mark questions where the difficulty comes from the concept, representation or calculation.
Step 4
Add topic-aligned practice: use the existing XAM CONTENT pages above only where the underlying concept overlaps the new chapter.
Step 5
Keep an error log: write the reason for each mistake—concept, diagram, algebra, sign, formula or interpretation.
Step 6
Retest: return to weak ideas after a few days and solve a fresh problem without looking at the previous solution.
