1. If the separation between two point charges is doubled, what happens to the electrostatic force between them?
Answer: It becomes one-fourth, because Coulomb force varies as 1/r².
2. A 12 V source is connected across a 6 Ω resistor. Find the current.
Answer: 2 A, using I = V/R.
3. Why does a magnetic field do no work on a charged particle when only magnetic force acts?
Answer: Magnetic force is perpendicular to the instantaneous velocity, so it changes the direction of motion but not the particle’s kinetic energy.
4. What happens at resonance in a series LCR circuit?
Answer: Inductive and capacitive reactances are equal, the impedance is minimum and the current is maximum for the applied voltage.
5. Why does increasing frequency increase the energy of a photon?
Answer: Photon energy is E = hν, so energy is directly proportional to frequency.
6. In forward bias, why does a p–n junction diode conduct much more strongly than in reverse bias?
Answer: Forward bias reduces the junction barrier and narrows the depletion region, allowing majority carriers to cross the junction more easily.
How many chapters are there in CBSE Class 12 Physics for 2026–27?
The current syllabus contains 14 chapters across nine units.
What are the Physics theory and practical marks?
Physics carries 70 theory marks and 30 practical marks, for a total of 100.
Which unit group carries the highest marks?
Electromagnetic Waves + Optics together carry 18 marks, the largest current unit-group allocation.
What is the current Physics board-paper pattern?
The official 2026–27 SQP has 33 questions in five sections: 16 one-mark, five 2-mark, seven 3-mark, two 4-mark case-study and three 5-mark long-answer questions.
Does XAM CONTENT have Case Study questions for every Class 12 Physics chapter?
Yes. The current Case Study collection has a live chapterwise resource for all 14 Physics chapters.
How should I use previous-year papers?
Complete chapterwise revision first, then solve recent board papers under timed conditions. Review every lost mark by identifying the first incorrect or missing step rather than only checking the final answer.
